Keyword analysis is selecting the best keywords to use in your subsequent website optimization and link building efforts. The process starts with our analyst working with you to develop a list of potential keywords to describe your products and services, expected results and, if appropriate, geographic terms that describe where your business is located. As the initial list is developed, it is important to keep focused on search terms that your customers might use. Depending on your offerings and the type of customer you are targeting, you may need to avoid using a lot of industry specific jargon. It may also be advantageous to include common misspellings of frequently used keywords. The goal is to develop a list of approximately two hundred keywords to use as a starting point for subsequent keyword optimization activities.
Once the list of keywords has been assembled, the next step in the process is to determine the average search volume for each of your keywords. We also compile statistics that show the number of competing search results for each of the keywords.
